23 . 01 . 08 - Techno is alive and well…

It's been a couple of days since the last edition of the Berlin blog but it's been heads down from GoodBooks recently in the shape of a couple of new tunes, a 30 minute mix for the best radio station in Germany called Fritz Radio, a tad too much alcohol consumption and a shedload of table football.

Berlin day 3 and 4 . . .

Ok, so we missed a day of blogging. i think it was just leo's plan to get out of doing it.

Day 3 was quite quiet during the day. We started a remix whilst Annagement went off a wandering through the streets of Berlin. The evening was slightly more eventful though. We'd been invited to another club by a nice guy called Alex so off we trotted to somewhere in the east of Berlin to find 112a Friedrichstrasse. We found the place but it seemed to be just people having some sort of dinner party, but after a brief, and slightly nerve-racking, trip inside a very dark courtyard and a short call to Alex, off we went through the dinner party to the back room. Berlin knows how to do a club. with countless sofa's and a nice big disco ball, we knew the atmosphere was good as soon as we entered. it all started off quite relaxed as people finished eating big bowls of soup and the dj played some Junior Boys, then gradually the place filled out and the pace picked up . . this was a good party! We spent the subsequent hours dancing to a lot of silly house music (yes, even Leo!) and generally having a lot of fun.

Day 4 started a lot earlier than you would expect. Leo had already gone exploring when JP, Annagement and Myself left the flat at 1. It was time to experience some culture. We headed off to the Brandenburg Gate which was rather impressive. Popped in to The Kennedys Museum which had some amazing photographs of the Kennedys, in fact i've never seen so many amazing photos in one place. We met up with Leo and went to explore the Jewish memorial which was very impressive. Got the Ubahn home whilst Leo snapped away at us with his new camera. He took one of me looking like Ian Curtis. This made me happy. For the rest of the evening JP and Max continued with the remix whilst Leo tinkered about with a song or two and me and Annagement lazily trawled hype machine for some of the silly house music we'd thrown some shapes to the night before. At Midnight we wandered round to the bar from the first night. It was a lot busier than on wednesday but it was a lot of fun trying to decide whether the really big lady that just walked in had once been a man . . i'm convinced she had but Annagement says she had female ankles . . go figure!

for now i shall leave you. it's leo's turn tomorrow which is probably a good thing as he's the only one who's been out today so far!
