We're recording this week. Four new songs - Momentum, Sorcerers, Bones and Roundabouts. Nice, succinct titles. They're lovely, full songs, with a definite leap on from 'Control'. I think I'm just beginning to understand GoodBooks songs now, whatever that means. A couple of them are longer than most of our old songs, one of them even flirting with the 4 minute mark (!). But maybe that's just because it's slower than songs can sometimes be.

Ok, so this is it. The last blog from me from Berlin, after tomorrow I am no longer a Berliner..and it's been incredible, totally captivating and so much fun. We've met some amazing people, people who've influenced us in so many ways, possibly more than they realise. They've taken us into their families, their friendship groups and made us feel like we were at home, thank you.

Berlin I love you..
The last 3 weeks have gone past so quickly but it feels like we've lived here half our lives, this town has influenced who we are as 4 individuals and also as a band..I think for the first time in about 2 years we know what sort of band we want to strive to be, we know for the first time what kind of goal we're aiming for, and we've learnt our lessons over the last year, from our own mistakes and other peoples, but that's all insignificant now.. what matters is what we plan to achieve and I'm so excited about that. We've gained an immense sense of perspective living here for a relatively short amount of time, you realize that so many things you once thought were vital and a necessity are in fact pointless and should not affect what you do and the music you make.
Today we visited our first studio in Berlin, after nurturing the idea in our collective mind that this album should be recorded here, it was in Mitte, and it was a great little studio, run by a couple of really passionate musicians and could be a great place to do some demos. I really feel that to not make this album in Berlin would be a missed opportunity and it would be half the record that it could be. I don't know, we'll see, watch this space.
Anyway, so yeah, sorry if this seems like a bit of a sentimental trip for me and lacking in exciting stories but hey, many of the things we've done are highly illegal and could end up imprisoning us all for several decades...
Thank you to Berlin for being an amazing city and changing us as a band..and to all the people that we've met and laughed with, got drunk with, danced with and fallen for. See you all very soon. JP xx
