Band Blog
It's been a couple of days since the last edition of the Berlin blog but it's been heads down from GoodBooks recently in the shape of a couple of new tunes, a 30 minute mix for the best radio station in Germany called Fritz Radio, a tad too much alcohol consumption and a shedload of table football.

Anna's gone home now, which is a bit strange. It's been awesome having her here, even if she did keep me up til 6bloody30am yesterday morning discussing life, goodbooks and life. GoodTimes though.

There is a bar somewhere in the East where there is a ping pong table, and all the punters do every night is play round the table, in fair Berlin where we lay our scene.

Techno is alive and well…
It's been a couple of days since the last edition of the Berlin blog but it's been heads down from GoodBooks recently in the shape of a couple of new tunes, a 30 minute mix for the best radio station in Germany called Fritz Radio, a tad too much alcohol consumption and a shedload of table football.
And it has gone past so quickly..I guess that's what happens when 4 excitable individuals fall in love with a city. It's very strange how you can feel more at home in a completely foreign city in 3 weeks than you've felt in the capital city of your native country for 3 years..
So as I said we made our djing debut on Fritz radio from the wee hours of midnight till 3 in the morning, to around 70,000 Berliners and it was fun, Leo did a lovely little interview in the mother tongue and Max interspersed it with the occasional but very precise sentence in German.
We also experienced our first eiscafe for about 7 years, which brought back several memories of German exchanges.
However none of these shenanigans could possibly begin to compare to the experience we all shared last night at a club called Cookies. Techno, minimal techno to be precise is a genre often easily dismissed but last night proved that it is treated like a religion, an institution if you like here in Berlin..I think I felt more sense of warmth, belonging, fun and enjoyment dancing to minimal all night than I've experienced at a gig in the last 2 years . There was no hype, no judging
no dismissive eyes if you weren't wearing the latest trends just a sense of purpose, intensity and fun.
It was an amazing night, and has to be experienced by anyone who ever visits this town.
Anyway, I'm off to Checkpoint Charlie with Mr. Cooke today, and then a bit of intensive tune writing is in order.
Oh yeah, we're also off to our friend Ikki's school tomorrow to talk to an English class about Hamlet, bizarre i know. See you all soon. JP.x
