i went to the cinema to see that in the summer. it was a bit disappointing. with such a solid fanbase due to a concept as icon as superman, they could have risked being a bit more adventurous it was just a bit same old same old.. i thought..

I love it! Classy, french, black and white.

I loved Breathless. I saw it about two months ago when it was re-released on DVD here. I must say I love the old French movies. They made life seem so simple and great.

I absolutely LOVED the HBO series, Rome. It was BRILLIANT, at least the 1st season.

I saw Casino Royale on Sunday.  I thought it was very boring.  The other eight peiople with me totally disagreed.  the ending was good, and I liked the way Judi Dench said bastard with the short a vowel.  It has no impact when pronounced in that silly barstard way.  My mother had the knock off DVD the week the film came out, which I thought was a little sad.

Blue velvet.  Very dark.  I cut a little story from the paper last year, where someone had actually found a severed ear.  how odd.  You might pick it up thinking it was wax, and then realise....  The Straight Story is lovely though.  Really sweet and magical.

I was disappointed with Superman too, especially with whatsisfeatures in charge, but I still sobbed like a fool when i rewatched it on DVD.  I have a soft spot for the first film, and it just gets me.  Time and time again.  Maybe it’s just the idea that someone with great power would use it to help others, rather than follow the general human pattern of abuse.

Anyone spot the non-actor who cameos in both James Bond and Superman?

I saw a decent movie called “The Fine Line of Beauty.” I believe it was/is a telly series over the pond on BBC 2. Anywho, the DVD of the first part of the triology just came out and I must say, avoiding the awkward sex scenes, it was rather good. Strange ending I thought and then saw it was only part 1 of 3. Har-har-har. Did anyone else watch it or know what I am talking about?

No Udall, I do not know the non-actor. I have not watches Superman Returns but I absolutely, definetly L-O-V-E-D the cars in Casino Royale. Totally Fab! So tell me because now I will go on wondering forever.

Maybe he’s someone who only British people would spot, though you’ve probably heard of him.  It was Richard Branson.  I don’t know why he has been in those two films, just hovering in the background, maybe he just enjoys doing it.  I like to spot rendom things like that.  I can’t think of any othe rexamples, but directors seem to like putting in little things like that.  Oh, like that Peter Jackson chappie popping up here and there in LOTR.

yeah i spotted Richard Branson in the secruty check dunring an airport scene in casino royale, but i don’t recall where he was in Superman Returns..

and Yes, Rome was a good series, quite crude in it’s depiction of the empire and i don’t know how accurate it was but it was good drama. Script and cinematography reminded me of that other sucessful BBC series of which the name i have forgotten, it’ll come to me… begins with a “C”. perhaps it had the same producers.

I watched Little Miss Sunshine on the plane last night, well filmed and writen. Querky, honest and uplifting. yeah, i enjoyed that.

he was very good as Casanova. I haven’t seen much of him (clearly excelling) in his new role as the doctor. Do you know if Rome and Casanovo were maserminded by the same BBC production team?

Very good question… Casanova was written by Russell T Davies (aha! Doctor Who!).. Umm but production team.. Casanova was Red/Power/Granada/BBC3, Rome was HBO/BBC2.

So nope!
