Max on meeting Nick Hornby

So the Spinebreakers launch was a great evening - just one big building full of enthusiastic lively young people. We’ve played the 3Rooms once before, and it is definitely the worst load-in in the whole of London, (challenged only by the Scala in King’s Cross). An odd gig, in all the right ways; firstly the venue was clean, which you never see. And the crowd was sober, again quite a novelty in this game. And then the small matter of meeting Nick Hornby after our little set. As far as I know I’ve not met famous authors before, because you don’t tend to know what they look like - if you see Johnny Borrell the other side of the bar in the Bricklayer’s Arms, it’s different because every idiot and his uncle (sadly) knows who he is. I think I prefer authors though, more wit and more humility. Look out for my first novel, in paperback soon. As soon as I’ve written it.
xx
